I am honored and excited to host a spot on the Blog Tour of The Bound Heart by Dawn Crandall! Thanks, and welcome Dawn Crandall!

The Bound Heart (The Everstone Chronicles, #2)

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Goodreads Summary
One accidental kiss. That was all it took to throw Meredyth Summercourt's world upside-down. Determined to marry the ever-elusive Vance Everstone, she simply doesn't have the time or the desire to fall for her friend Lawry Hampton. However, with Vance out of the country and Lawry constantly at her side, Meredyth can’t help but wonder if what’s holding her to Vance is nothing more than a desire to redeem herself from their unfortunate past.

When Vance comes home to stake his claim on Meredyth, will she be strong enough to break free from the tangled web she’s convinced she deserves? Or will she find the strength to accept that God’s plan for her life could include redemption... and quite possibly the love of her best-friend?

My Review
I don't even know where to start! The Bound Heart certainly played with my emotions - parts of it I loved so much, parts of it were immensely frustrating me (especially toward the end). I was definitely bound to the pages until the very last sentence!

I loved the characters! They were relatable and I was immersed in their emotions from the beginning. They came off of the pages and made me feel so many emotions. I was rooting for Meredyth and Lawry ever since I'd read The Hesitant Heiress, and I loved getting to hear their story.

Meredyth was strong and determined - a hard outer shell with a soft middle. She had a good heart and love for orphans. But, she was determined to make right her wrong in the only way she could see how, but she was falling in love with Lawry. What was she to do? What a web she was caught in - guilt and thinking God wanted to punish her. I'll be honest I cried a few times. I was waiting and waiting for her to realize that she only needed to turn to God and he would forgive her, and that she would accept Lawry's love for her - hurry up!

Lawry! Oh sweet, wonderful, devoted, faithful, constant, loving Lawry! He was wonderful, and he and Meredyth were so perfect for each other. He had been in love with her for so long, such persistence through everything. His personality and faith, his love and trust in Meredyth, his love for orphans - their relationship made me say awwwww - major smiles!

Then there was Wynn. Sweet, adorable, orphaned Wynn! She was such a great character and added so much to the book about how to love and trust. The times when Lawry, Meredyth, and Wynn were together were my favorite!

Vance was terrible, awful, and horrible throughout most of the book. I wished he would have stayed in Europe and leave Meredyth alone already - couldn't he see that she was in love with someone else?

There were great minor characters as well, such as Garret, Ainsley, Amaryllis and Nathan (from book 1), etc., that were also great to get to know or see again!

As Meredyth's eyes opened up to Lawry and everything she was just beginning to realize she wanted and could possibly have, a huge twist comes and takes the reader on a slippery slidy path that will make you say "oh, come on already!" It was torture (the suspenseful kind that can only come from a book when your hoping what you want to happen will happen soon and it just doesn't - Oh, true love!)

This book really had me wondering! Loved the ending though!

The writing was beautiful, heart-warming,heart-wrenching, and more! The message was beautiful, and something everyone should read.  Overall it was beautiful (I know I'm overusing that word)! There's so much more I want to say, but that's all I'm going to say because you just need to read it!  Trust me - you'll enjoy the roller coaster ride!

I can't wait to read more of Dawn Crandall's writing!

I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts and opinions are solely my own.
