Hero vs. Heroine vs. Sidekick

This is what I categorize my wandering whims under! My mind may be wanting to write about life, blogging, music, movies, or anything under the sun, and if it doesn't fit into one of my other features then, well, here it will goes!

Heros vs. Heroines vs. Sidekicks
Whether an epic story, a myth, a fantasy novel, or a contemporary novel, each story has something in common. A hero and a heroine! This hero or heroine may or may not save the world, they might not even seem like the hero or heroine that everyone dreams about and aspires to be. They may seem pretty normal. They may seem just like you. And you know what? That’s because they are! They make mistakes yet they don’t let that stop them from doing what is right! That is what makes a true heroic person.

Heros vs. Heroines vs. Sidekicks?
The main difference between the first two is pretty obvious. A hero is a male and a heroine is a female. A sidekick can obviously be either. But, when you get down to it, which is better and which do we prefer to see most in books?

My answer is All of the above!

I like both hero’s and heroine’s, and find they are both necessary in a book. Of course some books only have one and that's okay, but most have both and often many, and that is what I’m focusing on today.

When done right, a hero and heroine make each other stronger. The male does not overbear the female and take all the glory, he realizes that females can defend themselves sometimes and they don’t need him to do every little thing for them. Females can brush their own hair, thank you! (flips hair and tosses head with some sass)

While a female heroine can do most things and is equal to men she needs to realize that no one is perfect and some situations may call for a little help. If said help comes from a male specimen that doesn’t make the female species any weaker. "I might need you, but no more than you need me!" And vise versa!
A sidekick is like a best friend. Fiercely loyal to the end, and willing to do everything in their power to help. They are just as important as the hero and heroine!
A hero, a heroine, and a sidekick are equal. They can hold their own in banter filled conversations calling for a wit that only they can match. They make each other stronger. They help each other, and when you get down to it they aspire to do what they think is best.
What are you're thoughts on heros, heroines, and sidekicks?
