Top Ten Things I Like/Dislike When It Comes To Romances In Books

Top Ten Tuesday is a fun meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish, where we pick the top ten things for the topic of the week.  I really enjoy writing these posts, because I love lists, and this is a great way to look back at books I've read and toward the books I want to read!

Topic: Top Ten Things I Like/Dislike When It Comes To Romances In Books

This TTT actually inspired me to start a new feature on my blog called Bookish Relationships! Which are basically discussion posts on some of the things below, and more - check out the ones I've already written here or click on links below, and feel free to join in!
Romance I Heart
~ I heart Clean Romance! A sweet clean romance is the best. Kissing is fine, but no farther. A romance should be based on feelings and friendship (but more), not going past clean. I think you know what I mean! And sweet? Yes please, need I say more? Every girl

~ I heart romance that blossoms from friendship! Romances between two people who have been like best friends since childhood are so cute! I love those stories where friendship turns into like like feelings, and you know that their relationship is for real, they know each other, and it's not based on looks or instalove!

~ I heart relationships where the guy and girl share their faith and pray about their relationship together! It gives me hope that someday I'll find a guy like that!

~ I heart romance where the guy and girl have great banter and real conversations! Come on! You and I are both thinking it! What is a relationship without witty banter and real conversations!

~ I heart romance where they and the reader know from the start that they are meant for each other! I mean, not instalove, but not a love triangle.

~ I heart romance that is true, right, good, and clean. Romance that can make it through anything. True The One!

P.S. I love swoonworthiness!

Romance That Breaks My Heart
~ Romance that is not clean. I will put a book down if it isn't clean enough. Like I said, some kissing is fine, but no farther. That's just not my reading style.

~ Some/most/many love triangles. While sometimes a love triangle might be okay, there are few exceptions. They kind of annoy me most of the time. I mean you should know who The One is! Right?! Sometimes it's okay, but it has to be done right. And none of that back and forth stuff! Geesh!

~ Some insta love. Insta love is okay if it's just a feeling that "hey I think that might be The One," because I do believe that sometimes that can be realistic. But other times it comes across the wrong way in books, like it's based on looks alone, etc. I mean, relationships should definitely not be based on looks alone. (I'll just stop now or we'll be here forever)!

~ Arranged marriages. No one should be forced to marry someone they don't love! It's not right! You're the one is out there somewhere! (Again I don't want to keep you here all day)!

~ Romeo and Juliet. Okay. I'm not saying that I dislike forbidden romance/family feud, because sometimes it's okay and realistic, and entertaining. I'm saying that I don't like Romeo and Juliet written by Shakespeare. First of all, love should not be quite that rash, ever. You should talk things through with each other, don't run off, and don't kill yourself, etc.!! Uggghhhh!!!!

I Majorly Heart
~ I heart all romances with a happily ever after! Better than a fairy tale and all that!

~ I really feel like writing a post on a bunch of these, so we'll see where that goes!

What romance do you heart in books? What romance breaks your heart in books?
