Blog Tour: Sophia by Paula Kremser

Sophia blog tour

My rating: 5 of 5 stars
Goodreads Summary
Small-town Sophia Spencer can’t believe her luck when an unexpected inheritance allows her to experience London’s social scene. But her happiness disappears when she is caught napping in a grumpy gentleman’s room—and forced into an engagement to protect her reputation! Personalities collide and love blooms in this stunning debut novel.

About the Author
Paula Kremser focused on a career in science for several years after graduating from Brigham Young University. DNA purification and Affinity Chromatography were always interesting, but when she moved to England, Paula seized the opportunity to focus on her love of the Regency Era. The enchantment of the aristocracy and the fascinating stories from every stately home she visits have been both research and inspiration for her first novel. Paula lives with her husband and four children in a charming village nestled in the Chiltern hills in Buckinghamshire.

My Review
First of all, there have been many times when I've wished I could go back in time to England past! I was aware before, but Sophia's situation really made me extra aware of the rigid lines of society in those days - maybe not as much fun as I'd thought, but definitely entertaining (and I'd still love to visit).

Sophia was a very entertaining book that kept me wanting more. When I first read the description, I was intrigued. I mean, not many books have a synopsis where the main character falls asleep in a grumpy unknown guys room, then is forced to marry them! Match of love every time - not, but in this case maybe!

Sophia was a character whom I could relate to, personality wise at least. She was kind, funny, naive, loved horses, and was thrilled at the prospect of having a season in London. She grew up with her father, a country doctor, whom was very kind and gave in to many of her whims possibly causing her to be slightly spoiled, yet really down to earth.

Making the best of her inheritance, Sophia traveled to London to stay with her not so kind aunt, buying nice dresses, and attending balls. With all of that work, one is sure to get tired.

Alex was very upset about the predicament at first. To be the unsuspecting target of a scheme? Well, it's enough to make even the sweetest of gentlemen explode! Then as we got to know him better, I really liked his personality. He was kind, honest, hardworking, and funny yet serious.

As they get to know each other, Sophia and Alex come to find that there is more to the other than first appeared. When Sophia starts to fall in love, wonders if she will ever know whether or not Alex really wants to marry her, or if she'll always be a burden in his eyes.

There were also some other likable characters, some shallow ones, some cruel ones - I'm not giving away who is what though.

There were many humorous moments withing the pages of this book, as well as some heartbreaking ones. All is not soft and fluffy at all times, when dealing with forced engagements!

I received a free copy of this book in exchange of an honest review. All thoughts and opinions are solely my own.
